About Prince William County

Prince William County, VA, has seen most of its current extensive residential development within the past 20 years. Historically a rural area, Prince William County has seen its population swell in response to the rapidly increasing commuter pulse into and out of Washington, DC.

Prior to the 1960s, the population of Prince William County was concentrated around Manassas and Woodbridge/Occoquan; these two areas (of which Manassas is now an independently incorporated city) have significant historical districts. The rest of Prince William County, in contrast, is a patchwork of relatively new construction.

Significant regions of Prince William County, VA, include Bristow, Dale City, Gainesville, Haymarket,  Lake Ridge, Manassas, Manassas Park, City of Manassas,  Montclair, Woodbridge, and Occoquan.
